Banks, NBFCs, lenders, fintechs, investment advisers and brokers in India are held to the highest trust standard by Google and AI assistants because financial content can affect people’s money. To rank and be cited, a financial services site needs product pages with current, dated rates, fees and eligibility; the regulatory disclosures that RBI, SEBI and other regulators require; named experts behind educational content; useful calculators; and consistent information across aggregators and listings. Getting compliance right is also what makes the content trustworthy.
Why finance is different
Google’s Search Quality Rater Guidelines treat finance as a “Your Money or Your Life” topic, where raters look for strong evidence of expertise and trustworthiness. AI assistants answering questions like “best personal loan for salaried employees in Pune” or “which mutual fund for a five-year goal” lean on sources that are accurate, current and clearly attributed. Out-of-date rates are both a compliance risk and a reason to be skipped.
Product pages
| Element | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Interest rates or return ranges, with the date they apply from | The most asked question; must be current |
| All fees and charges in a table | Buyers compare total cost; hidden charges destroy trust |
| Eligibility and documents required | Answers “can I get this” directly |
| Process and timelines | Answers “how long does it take” |
| Risks and conditions, in plain language | Required in many cases and expected by careful readers |
| Regulatory registration details | Proves the entity is authorised |
| FAQs from real customer questions | Matches how people ask |
Regulatory disclosures that also build trust
- Lenders and NBFCs: RBI’s digital lending guidelines, issued in 2022, require regulated entities to publish information such as the lending service providers they work with and to give borrowers a Key Fact Statement. Show your RBI registration details clearly.
- Mutual fund distributors and AMCs: include the standard risk disclaimer required by SEBI, and avoid any promise of returns.
- Investment advisers and research analysts: SEBI’s rules restrict advertising, prohibit guaranteed returns and require registration details. Check SEBI’s current advertisement code before publishing promotional content.
- Insurance: follow IRDAI’s advertising and disclosure rules, and show registration numbers.
These disclosures are mandatory, and they are also exactly the kind of verifiable facts that make a financial page credible to readers and to AI systems.
Educational content
- Written or reviewed by named people with relevant qualifications, such as chartered accountants, certified financial planners or credit specialists
- Dated, with a review schedule for rules and rates that change
- Sources for tax rules, rates and regulations: the official circular or notification
- Neutral where it compares product types, with your own products linked where relevant
See E-E-A-T and freshness signals.
Calculators and tools
EMI, SIP, eligibility and tax calculators answer common questions, attract links and give people a reason to visit. Build them so the key explanation and an example calculation are also in the page text, since crawlers cannot use a calculator.
Aggregators, listings and reviews
- Keep product details consistent on the comparison platforms and marketplaces where your products appear.
- Maintain Google Business Profiles for branches customers visit.
- Respond to complaints publicly and factually; financial reviews are closely read by people and by assistants.
Technical points
- Rates and fees loaded from APIs must still appear in the server-rendered HTML.
- Keep each product and each group company on separate, clearly labelled pages, so details are not confused.
- Protect application forms and personal data under the DPDP Act, 2023.
Frequently asked questions
Can we publish “best” rankings of our own products?
Be careful: superlatives and implied guarantees can breach advertising rules. Comparisons should be factual, dated and fair.
How often should rates be updated online?
Whenever they change, with the effective date shown. Automate this from the system of record where possible.
Do AI assistants give financial advice from our pages?
They summarise information and usually add caveats. Clear, accurate pages make it more likely that summaries of your products are correct.
