Another lawsuit for Apple in China, for showing a war film from the 1990s

The tech giant is being sued by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT). A production center has alleged that Apple has misused its online rights by broadcasting a film depicting the Chinese fighting with the Japanese soldiers. apple

This patriotic film that belonged to 1994, caused heavy economic losses to the government agency that requested $7,510 (50,000 yuan) in Haidian district court’s statement in Beijing. The Youku Tudou allowed users to watch the movie “Xuebo Dixiao” depicting a patriotic Chinese doctor’s fight against the Japanese occupying forces in northern parts of China around the period of early 1930s.

The Movie Satellite Channel Program Production Center sued Heyi Information and Technology (Beijing) Company Ltd, the developer and operator of the Youku HD app. After suspending iBooks and iTunes Movies services due to an order by Chinese regulators, Apple received orders by a property tribunal to stop selling iPhone 6 and 6 plus.

However, the sales of these phones continue while Apple appeals. Another setback was made, when a Chinese company was allowed to use iPhone trademark on wallets, bags and other leather goods. On Saturday, Apple spokespeople could not answer to emailed requests. Also, Youku Tudou’s spokesman was unable to comment immediately.
